It is a company founded by Curran Latchford in 2012. Curran is a Eastern medical practitioner/massage therapist. She has been practicing since 2006. She is trained in all Eastern modalities of bodywork/philosophy. The company has evolved over the years growing from one practitioner (Curran), to many, back to one in 2020.
Having traveled throughout the world as a biologist, Curran saw the impacts of human existence in the first part of her life. In the second, she helped the healing process of thousands of physical bodies through Eastern therapy/bodywork with the intention that a healthy body makes for a healthy mind which can make better choices about the environment. Moving into the third aspect of her working career, she intends to teach ways to heal the self through Qigong.
Curran first read about the ground luminous state in The Tibetan Book of Living and Dying. It is the state from which all other states arise. It is the basis, ground, or primordial state. It can be found discussed in many ancient books. Although putting words to it does not explain it. All sentient beings exist here. It is only a question of acceptance and letting go. In the words of Namkhai Norbu, “It remains hidden to the experience of every being affected by the illusion of dualism.”
It is a collection of exercises. Literal translation is: Breath Movement or Life Force Gathering/Work. The exercises can be simple to complex, easy to difficult. All depends on the moment the practitioner is acting. Every day these exercises are a different experience. The lesson is recognizing the moment. Unless done consistently, the practitioner will miss the lesson. The biggest mistake anyone can make is not beginning the practice. The next biggest mistake is not continuing.
Eastern bodywork includes but is not exclusive to: Shiatsu, Tui na, Thai, Central Channel, Shin tai, Ji-ap, and Lomi Lomi. In addition Curran is trained in the Western modalities: Myofascial Release, Lymphatic drainage, and CranioSacral. Eastern tradition states that all living things are made of energy. This energy both reflects and affects the internal environment. In treating the energetic body we in turn treat the physical form. In treating the physical form we in turn treat the energetic body. An Eastern style massage is a mixture of rocking, rolling, stretching, and point (finger) pressure, palm, elbow and/or knee pressure. Some say an Eastern style massage is a mixture of a chiropractor (mild structural corrections), massage (soft tissue work), and an acupuncturist (point therapy). The intention is to create an overall feeling of wellness. Clients stay fully dressed. No oils or lotions are used.
