Easter was originally a holiday to celebrate fertility and reproductive health. According to Eastern medicine it’s natural for a healthy woman to become pregnant easily, have a normal delivery and birth, and produce a strong healthy child. In Chinese medicine the liver is the main organ involved in regulating the female reproductive system. It’s no coincidence that Easter is a Spring holiday; Spring being the season of liver and gallbladder energy.
Here are some tips you can use to increase fertility this spring:
1. Walk Outside
Nature has an overall balancing effect on the body’s energy, which is important to have so your body’s natural systems are moving and functioning. Walking helps by balancing both the ascending and descending colon, so is this helpful for strengthening the body’s hara, or core, which is the source of life in the body. The core in western terms is where the digestive system lies around the belly button and upper pelvic area.
2. Eat Leafy Greens
It is common for women to now have problems becoming pregnant. From the Chinese medical perspective this can be caused by having too many dense foods on a regular basis in their diet, like meat, eggs, and dairy cheese. These all affect the liver, which the liver is governed by upward rising energy, but these foods suppress that because they are more stagnated and downward energy. Try to include more leafy greens in your diet cooked in a light way. For example blanched or steamed Napa cabbage, or broccoli, or cauliflower, or bok choy, etc.
3. Incorporate Lemon & Apples in Diet
Try steamed apples, or apple juice with lemon or fresh oranges on a regular. These acidic foods help to release old stagnation in the Liver.
4. Massage & Alternative Therapies
Last but not least, incorporate more massages in your lifestyle. Shiatsu helps to create deep strength in the body and bring back its natural flexibility.
